The March-Kanata Skating Club (MKSC) was formed in 1972 and is run entirely by volunteers. It is an organization sanctioned by Skate Canada, the national body that coordinates and regulates figure skating in Canada. The MKSC is in the Eastern Ontario Section of Skate Canada (EOS), Region V.
During the fall, winter and spring months, the Club operates at the John G. Mlacak Arena located at 2500 Campeau Drive, behind the Earl of March High School. During May, June, July and August, the Club runs a joint pre-summer and summer program with the Glen Cairn Skating Club out of the Bell Sensplex, 1565 Maple Grove Road.
The mandate of the March-Kanata Skating Club is to provide a safe, encouraging and positive training environment for all recreational, test and competitive skaters.
March-Kanata Skating Club is a registered club of Skate Canada. This ensures that the programs offered, the skills developed, and the instruction provided to our skaters meet a specified standard that is consistent across Canada. All of our coaches are certified by Skate Canada through the 3M National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), and our coaches in turn train our amateur volunteer Program Assistants (PA) to assist on the ice with instruction for our CanSkate skaters.
MKSC offers a variety of Skate Canada programs to persons of all ages. These programs range from Pre-school, learn-to-skate (CanSkate), STARSkate, Adult/Teen and SynchroSkate sessions. MKSC is in the Skate Ontario section.
